Seven Day Forecast

Saturday Night Still a chance of shower or Thundershower in Lakes Country, otherwise Slowly clearing from the West. Some Clouds Sunday Morning Especially in Minnesota but it should turn into a Mostly Sunny day with a wind out of the Northwest at 10-20 mph. Warm and Windy again by Tuesday with a chance of storms Tuesday Night into Wednesday. Some uncertainty in the Forecast for late in the week, one scenario brings in Hot Weather while the other keeps it cooler than Average. I've gone in the middle and will try and pick warm or cold on Sunday's Forecast. Rob Kupec

Differences Between the new and old systems

  • Wind speed is now calculated for 5 feet off the ground. Wind speed was previously based on observations at 33 feet.
  • The calm wind threshold was lowered to 3mph.
  • A consistent standard for skin tissue resistance is now in use.
  • Measurements are based on how wind affects the human face, typically the most exposed portion of the body.
  • The table incorporates the theory that heat is lost from the body depending on its surroundings
  • The sun's impact is not factored into the wind chill temperature formula.
